| The Jonas Brothers are a male band integrated by three
brothers: Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas. The band comes from
Wyckoff, New Jersey and became popular through Disney Channel. The band
began as a solo project of Nick Jonas, who was discovered at the age of
six when he was singing at a barber shop. When Nick turned 7 years old,
he started a career on Broadway, performing in a string of plays like
A Christmas Carol, Beauty and the Beast, and Les Misérables.
In September 2004, Nick released the single "Dear God" and
his second single, titled "Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)",
came out in November of the same year. Kevin and Joe penned several tracks
of the album. In 2005, the three brothers started as an act, signing up
with Columbia Records. During that year, they embarked on several tours
and opened for musicians such as, Kelly Clarkson the Backstreet Boys,
and The Click Five. At the end of the year, the band released their first
single "Mandy", which made a four place on MTV’s TRL.
In February 2006, they released a new song "Time for Me to Fly. And
in August, the first album “It's About Time” arrived. The
second song of the album was "Year 3000" and became famous through
Radio Disney. The music video aired on Disney Channel for its first time
in January 2007.
In March 2007, two new tunes on two different albums were released "Kids
of the Future" from the Meet the Robinsons soundtrack[32] and "I
Wanna Be like You" from DisneyMania 5. On April 9, the band sang
the National Anthem in their first appearance at the White House. On August
7, they released their self-titled second album, Jonas Brothers, placing
number five on the Billboard Hot 200 chart in its first week. Two song
with music videos Hold On" two weeks before, and "S.O.S. were
also released in that time. The same year the band guest-starred in different
series, being the most relevant their appearance in hit show Hannah Montana
titled "Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas." The band
kept gaining popularity, performing the song "S.O.S." at the
2007 American Music Awards.
In January 2008, the Jonas Brothers kicked off their Look Me In The
Eyes Tour in Tucson, Arizona. In the summer of that year, the band released
their third studio album, A Little Bit Longer, with some three songs "Burnin'
Up", "Pushin' Me Away" and "Tonight" reaching
the top spot on iTunes for three days minimum. The band opened Avril Lavigne's
Best Damn Tour along with Boys Like Girls. They also wrote several songs
for Disney Channel star and close pal, Demi Lovato, for her forthcoming
album, Don't Forget, which they also helped produce. In July, they started
the Burning Up Tour in Toronto, Ontario. On the tour they promoted A Little
Bit Longer and Camp Rock Soundtrack, and also played song from previous
albums as well. Since August 6, 2008, Bayer Diabetes Care has partnered
with Nick Jonas as a diabetes ambassador to encourage young people to
manage their diabetes, as Nick was diagnosed with the disease when he
was 13.
The Jonas Brothers broke a record being the first group in history to
sell more than 100,000 digital downloads for three consecutive singles:
"Burnin' Up", 183,000+ first week sales, "Play My Music",
109,000+ sales, and "Pushin' Me Away," 116,000+ sale.
The Jonas Brothers also made a foray into the acting world, having made
their debut on the Hannah Montana show. They also stood up by the teen
queen in her 3D Concert Film, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of
Both Worlds Concert. The band shot a short series, titled Jonas Brothers:
Living the Dream, which revolves around their lives on tour.
They also debuted on the big screen in the Disney Channel Original Movie
“ Camp Rock”, where they portray a band called "Connect
Three.
The Jonas Brothers are currently working on a new Disney Channel Original
Series, entitled J.O.N.A.S., scheduled for a 2009 release.
The three brothers have become into a family-friendly icon. They are committed
to the Evangelical Christians faith and they all wear purity rings on
their left hands, which means they will wait until marriage to have sex.
Furthermore, they abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.
